HCV Follow-Up Care

Project goal

Every patient in Switzerland whose hepatitis has been treated and cured receives adequate follow-up care.

Project needs

Even after cure, certain hepatitis C patients require follow-up care in order to detect and treat liver diseases occurring after cure in time. Thus, hepatitis C patients with advanced liver damage have an increased risk of liver cancer even after cure. However, many patients no longer receive follow-up care. Measures

The project has four parts:

  1. The development of Swiss guidelines for hepatitis C follow-up care;
  2. patient-centered project on the acceptance of follow-up care;
  3. retrospective comparative study on the appropriateness of follow-up care in cured patients;
  4. prospective comparative study examining the long-term effect of follow-up care of cured hepatitis C patients and the public health benefits.
